When it comes to dating, it may seem like men are from Mars and women from Venus. True, that statement may be one old cliché but it sure seems to be spot on where dating is concerned. If you are heading out on a date with a girl you just met, then there are a few things that you need to review first. Dating is like entering a gladiator’s arena, but the problem is that you may not be wearing the required protection and that may well be the last time you venture out on a date. That’s why you may want to check out some of the common dating mistakes and avoid the same, just as you would, with a potted Poison Ivy.

 Dating Mistakes

1. High expectations: If you are dating this woman for the first time, then you should make sure that your expectations on how the rest of the date would turn out stays firmly grounded. Do not expect the other person to swoon at your feet, declaiming that she is in love with you. That sadly happens a lot in movies and not as much as you would want to, in reality. In fact, most of the professional dating sites do suggest that you should ground your expectations as you head out on that all important first date. Do not expect your first date to turn into a relationship overnight; instead, think of it as a first round interview. If both of you are into each other and have a lot in common, then you can set a second date.

2. Dressed to kill: Since it is your first date, no one is asking you to slum it out. But that does not mean that you get to turn up on that first date in a pair of cargo shorts. Sure, she will now think of you always, as that small boy in his camping shorts – so you may want to rethink what you are wearing to the date. At the same time, there is such a thing as going into the deep end. Try to avoid wearing flashy clothing and expensive ones, settle for something that looks decent enough for a first date. You may want to focus on creating a good impression and a flashy dress may well get in the way.

3. Splitting the bill: This is a definite no-no; granted that you are living in the age of ultra feminism where nearly every woman you meet feels the need to stand out for her rights. But despite that, it is always expected that the guy would pay for the date and until she makes a request to split the bill. If the request comes from you, you come off sounding like a cheapskate.

4. Holding a monologue: As hard as it is to believe, one of the most difficult things for anyone to do is to have a conversation with the other person. Deep silence can cause you anxiety and even stress, and you may even act out as a result of the same. No one is asking you to set off into your back-story or a monologue about how great you are; that can be a real downer. Instead, just converse with each other and you may want to kick start the process by asking her about her interests. For example, there’s already one thing you know about her –since you searched online for “women seeking men Sydney”, you already knew that she must either be residing in Sydney or close enough. You can start off the conversation by talking about the city that you both reside in.

These are some of the dating mistakes that you need to avoid. There are more than a few online dating sites that you can check out for that perfect match. All you need to do is to search online and this should help list out all the websites that cater to Sydney and nearby locations. And of course, good luck.
