A Beginner’s Guide To Vaping

If you’re planning to make the switch from smoking to vaping, then you need a quick vaping guide for you to kick-start your vaping career. In simple words, the process of vaping is defined as the act of using e-cigarettes to exhale & inhale the vapour the devices produce.

The e-liquid creates the vapour which offers the user a nicotine hit without any tar, smoke, ash or burning smell, which you’d normally get with traditional cigarette smoking.

The Various Parts Of A Vape

An e-cigarette is also known as a vape pen in NZ, and it contains the following set of elements:

  1. The Battery

The battery is said to be the powerhouse for your vape. It offers the energy required to heat the e-juice and then the vapour will be generated for you to inhale the same. E-cigarettes that are smaller in size such as cigalikes, will have a battery built inside the device. Most e-cigarettes have replaceable batteries.

  1. The Coil, Atomiser & Wick

The battery provides power to the atomiser, which is responsible for housing the heating coil and wick. You can find the atomiser inside the tank, while some advanced e-cigarettes use standalone atomisers. The wick will carry the e-juice from the tank to the coil to be heated.

  1. The Clearomiser, Cartomiser & Tank

All of the above-mentioned components form the subsets of e-cigarette tanks. The tank is responsible for holding all the vape juice. The difference is that – cartomisers don’t have transparent panes while clearomisers have transparent panes for you to see how much e-liquid is left for use.

What Do You Mean By Vape Juice?

Vape juice, otherwise known as e-juice or e-liquid, is held inside the e-cigarette tank. The atomiser is responsible for heating the e-liquid. In case you buy a disposable e-cigarette, then it will come pre-filled with vape juice. Otherwise, you have to purchase your vape juice.

The primary ingredients that you can find in vape juice are:

  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG)\
  • Propylene Glycol (PG)
  • Nicotine
  • Food flavourings

You can find nicotine-free e-liquids as well.

Various Types Of E-Cigarettes

  1. Cigalikes

Just like the name suggests, cigalikes look like traditional cigarettes in both shape & size. They’re very portable and quite easy to use as well. Ideal for beginner vapers.

  1. Vape Pens

Vape pens are the bigger version of cigalikes. Unlike cigalikes, vape pens are reusable and will prove to be cost-effective to use in the long term. They also provide better style, performance & flavour.

  1. Box Mods

Vape mods generally house larger batteries & coils, which allow them to create larger vapour for longer periods. These are ideal for experienced vapers.
