Ice Syn and Quer

Ice Ice Baby

We in the Kansas City metro area are in the throes of an ice and snow storm. Roadways are skating rinks, I ain’t goin’ out there.

Here’s what our last big ice storm looked like. This is our driveway, the trees are bent over under the weight of a solid one inch coating of ice.

My debut novel, River of Possibilities is now for sale. Because I am a kind and generous soul, (and so modest - lol) and I believe that giving leads to receiving, you can read the COMPLETE novel online.

I loved researching all of the paranormal stuff that is in the book, and the information about remote viewing is downright scary. I loved writing it, but my synopsis sucks - LOL! So I’m having a contest.

Help Me Syn
I am not happy with the synopsis for the novel. (And you thought I just couldn’t spell “sin” Trust me, I’m an expert on sin *snicker*)
So for a week, there is a contest. Write the best synopsis. Or the worst. Any synopsis.

The whole book is free online. Winner gets a free print copy of the book.

I’ll post all entries, y’all vote. A free print copy goes to the winner. I’ll be turning to friends to spread the word, and would appreciate any mentions.

I’d also like some samples of great query letters. I’ve read lots of examples of great queries, but I get real stoopid when I try to write my own.

So…

Let’s Try Quer
A SECOND contest (with free print copy as prize - like duh, I’m trying to promote this book - lol) which will also be judged by readers.

Both contests end December 7, at 11:59 PM

Thanks! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

UPDATE! Both of these contests are announced at a great new blog where you can learn about all sorts of blog contests!

Check out Competizione!

That ice sure brings back memories… don’t worry, I’ll have my own soon enough! :/

    I love the pictures!

Hmmmm write a summary for your book, eh? I think you should write it in MadLibs fashion, letting the reader write it themselves! ha ha ha

    Hiya Marti!

Thanks for the post on my blog.

Wow! What a picture! Coming from England, I’d seen nothing like that until I’d come stateside. The first time I experienced a ‘real’ winter was when I had 36 inches of snow OVERNIGHT in Babylon, NY. Later, driving to State College PA, I say trees coated in ice… It was amazing. apparently they got so heavy they collapsed in on themselves.

Sorry about your friend being exploited by PA. If she writes them a stern letter, she could be let out of their contract. They’re kind of pussies about legal action because they’re balanced on a knife edge. If I can give any advice or help, let me know.

    Best, Rols

    Hey Marti-

The pic of the aftermath is a harbinger of things to come here in the Northeast. Yikes!
I absolutely LOVE the look of the blog.
    It is stunning.
I’ll be by later in the week for another visit.
    Be safe, be well…

Stay warm, Marti. We’ve been having t-shirt & shorts weather here. In fact, it’s been so warm my husband & youngest daughter swam in our unheated pool this weekend.

I know, but don’t hate me for it ;-)

  10. cube Says:

I meant to add that it did finally cool off. It’s 58 degrees & I’m cold.

OK, don’t hate me for that either ;-)

BTW I’ve been reading “River” in bits.

  11. tnchick Says:

Wow, at the ice and cold! Buur. You stay warm and keep safe in the weather!! Today is our coldest day yet - just a few flurries… I can’t stand cold!

  12. Marti Says:

    Hello everyone!

Yes Peter, the trees did survive. We’re a hardy lot here in Mazoorah - LOL

Clearly these contests were a horrible, horrible idea. Nobody has entered. I can’t say I blame you, it’s a pretty sucky contest. Two sucky contests - the great double suck. You can still read the book for free, and I hope you enjoy it. Tell your friends. But nobody needs to write a synopsis or query letter. It’s OK. I’m not sad or depressed. I WAS sad and depressed when my Internet stopped working for a few days because an icicle sliced the phone line. (Yes, we’re on dialup out here in the woods but the serenity and starry, starry nights are worth it.)

I’ll have a new post up tomorrow, I’m just happy to be able to get online again right now.

Peace and joy to all of you.
