THIS JUST IN!
(Fanning myself like Scarlet O’Hara all a-twitter here LOL)
I submitted a guest article to Mommybloggers, and they just let me know they have used it today! There are wonderful stories there - you don’t have to be a mom to enjoy a visit.
As they state:
~The goal of our site, Mommybloggers, is to expose the diversity of the writers who commonly fall under the label “mommyblogger”. This site is set up to be an inclusive experience for our readers, both for parents and non-parents alike. We will feature women who will share how their experiences in motherhood effect the many various aspects of her life in humorous, supportive and informative ways. Mommybloggers are making a real difference in this world. Mommybloggers.com wants to introduce you, our readers, to these amazing women.~
I am so grateful to them for using my article. Please stop by for a visit! Thanks!

I will be joining Miss C, Karen and many other bloggers in a month, when we mark the five-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. D. Challener Roe is working hard to get 2,996 bloggers involved in a non-partisan tribute to the victims of 9/11. The idea is for each blogger to post a tribute to one victim on September 11, 2006. Although mine is a humor blog, I will be posting a serious tribute to:
John F. Swaine, age 36.
Place killed: World Trade Center.
Resident of Larchmont, N.Y. (USA).

I am the 1724th blogger to sign up for the 2,996 Tribute Project.

Anyone who wishes may use this candle image with my blessing.

Please consider blogging a tribute. There has been amazing response, but it’s not all that are needed. Roe is keeping track and posting updates at the project blog, 2996. Bloggers can go there to sign up and be assigned a person to write about, or you can request a particular individual if you want. Thank you so much!

Amy, (who is muttering, “Gee thanks a lot! How am I supposed to follow something like the tribute?”) is a “Can’t miss” blog.

I KNOW you can do it sugar! Anyone who can tell a story about sucking a hamster…well y’all will just have to go see. LOL!

I have signed up too, but I haven’t gotten my email from them yet. Did you get your graphic link once you got the email or did you have to go get the code somewhere? I couldn’t find the code…grrrr.

  2. Marti Says:

Yes, I got my e-mail right away. I am not sure how to do more research on my tribute person though. I guess I will start with Google.

There is a link at the tribute site called “graphics” that has the code to make your personalized banner, plus a lot of other very nice graphics.
I made the candle for my blog post of September 11, 2005. Anyone can use it. You are a good person to be volunteering, Chris.

  3. Kel Says:

    Lefties Rule!!!!!

  4. Miss Cellania Says:

Wow, you say the nicest things! Thanks, Marti. I found out I was the 50th blogger to sign up at 2,996. They’ve signed up over 100 new bloggers in the last two days. I hope they make the goal!

  5. Write From Karen Says:

Hey Marti! Thanks for the link love! And even more importantly, thank you for signing up for a tribute!

I googled the name of my person and came up with some real gems. 2,996 also has a few 9/11 links you might try out, here’s one: http://www.september11victims.com/september11victims/ Keep searching around the web, you’re bound to find something.

And by the way, I’m a leftie, too!

  6. Lori L Says:

That’s awesome that you signed up to do the tribute. Congratulations on the mommyblogger post!

  7. Michael D. Says:

I’m a leftie convert, Marti. Was unaware that we had a day of our own on Hall Marks calendar of reasons to buy something from them. And a big Pat on the Back for getting published on mommyblogger! You go, girl!

  8. Amy Says:

Isn’t it often said that “lefties are the only ones in their right minds”?

Thanks for the link love Marti! You’re the best-est!!!!!!

  9. Peter Says:

Hi Marti, thanks for the candle I will use it come Sep11, I’m in a little bit of a quandry as to when to post my tribute as Australia is 10/15 hours ahead of UStime, I’m thinking I’ll go with Sept 11 Australian time, seems more fitting.

  10. Musing Says:

    Didn’t know there was a Left-Handers Day!

I’m sort of left-handed. I write and eat with my left hand but use scissors and throw a ball with my right. Is there an Ambidextrous Day?

  11. Rhys Says:

Great post! I was always jealous when I was a kid that I wasn’t a leftie. i always wanted to be for some reason. It just seemed cool. :)

  12. tnchick Says:

    Lefty here, too! Woot!

Last year I posted a big ole post about lefties (http://tnchick.com/archives/174) … but I didn’t this year.

    Happy Left Hander’s Day!

  13. mar Says:

Yeah for school !!! I think we are all ready for it to start, except for the kids. My “kid” begins college *sigh*

  14. Mike Ashley Says:

What a neat post, Marti. There’s a little bit of everthing there.
…I’m way behind -again on my blog reading. Trying to catch up with your blogs that I missed. (And I will!!)

  15. Frances Says:

Delighted to read you were published.
IT’s hard tobelieve the personal computer has been out for 25 years.
I remember when people were going on line by putting the phone receiver in a special holder.
And when floppy disks were actually floppy!
    Thanks for sharing.
    Frances

  16. Deborah Says:

Both my husband and my youngest are lefties.

I’ve signed up for the tribute and got assigned to profile a young woman.

I think you have convinced me to sign up for the tribute thing.
